Baby Doll Sling Carrier

Get the pattern here. See the video here.

The Basics:

Sew all seams with 3/8″ allowance.

Measure the straps to fit the wearer. Use a measuring tape to find the length as in the picture below.

Begin at chest and measure to side, then continue the measurement to include the lower back and length needed to comfortably tie the carrier.

Print the pattern:

Download and print the pattern actual size. For directions to do this, click here. Tape the pattern pieces together as indicated at the shaded areas; hash lines will mostly match up.

For the Loops and Straps:

Prepare the straps by measuring and pressing. For both loops and straps, prepare as shown in the picture below.

Loops:

Cut the loop strip into four equal pieces.

Back:

Fold 2 loops in half and pin to the flat sides at the top of the back piece.

With right sides facing, sew the back pieces together as shown in the picture below.

Slash the curves of the seam. Turn right side out and press.

Front:

Place the raw end of the straps on the front as shown in the picture below. Make sure there is room for a seam allowance on either side of the strap.

With right sides facing, sew the front pieces together as shown in the picture below.

Turn right side out and press.

Assembling:

Fold the remaining loops in half and pin them to the raw edges of the carrier sides.

Place the back on the front with right sides facing and sew as directed in the picture below.

Turn right side out.

Place the doll in the sling and adjust the straps. This carrier will work with the doll facing in to the wearer, or out. Here’s how I put it on a child:
